eBook Publishing as an accessory for my online teaching (Amazon publisher A38H4ONLVOTD2L)

My own book is to be published in Burkina Faso pending my arrival. Hopefully at this point I can give it a (much needed!) happy ending.

This has been anticipated in my close circles for some time, but as my relocation to Burkina Faso edges closer, it is time to give it a first mention.

And in another recent development I am to Engauge in a joint venture with an old friend whom I know from amateur radio who specialises in medical photography.

I plan to use the publishing venture to complement and facilitate my teaching on arrival in Burkina Faso – the eBooks can serve as teaching aids, whereas I also aim to promate the books for use in class as teaching aids. I plan to launch the business at least on a small scale initially; this is likely to be based on resale in the first instance; and the much vaunted solar (photovoltaic) power operation will commence as soon as it is financially feasible to do so. In the meantime, I will remain active as an online educator until further notice.

And there are additionally plans to base Outschool classes on sone of the material: – we are in general agreement that this approach has potential

I already have the capability to conduct transactions in multiple currencies as below.

The intention is to open an account with the United Bank of Africa – for this I need to present the required documents in branch in Ouagadougou. I also plan to register a .bf domain following arrival – dfdn.org.bf is likely if available. The current free DNS is due to be replaced; it is only an interim measure anyhow.

Prior to taking payments on site, all visitors will be directed to HTTPS as transport layer security is of Couse a perquisite for any reputable organisation. A payment solution will be selected; any suggestions would be welcomed.

Currently suitable software for conversion and publication of E-books is being evaluated; an open source solution is desired since paying the exorbitant licence fees of proprietary products is simply not financially viable and I do not wish to have to pass these costs on the buyer. Formats will include portable document format (PDF), EPUB – which is open source, and KPF for the Kindle – a suppose some will request this and maybe AZW3 if requested for older Kindle devices. There is also a Kindle app for both Apple and Android devices too. Note that LIT – Microsoft Reader is now defunct.
