Get our new app! (Beta Version)
***New DFDN.org apps available for Android devices***
Unfortunately (at least for now); I cannot support IOS due to Apple's policy of only allowing download and installation from the Apple store. This makes distribution and beta testing all
but impossible for a independent developer; I have however heard rumours that in the European Union, there is a legal challenge under competition rules. If this is upheld, my position
will change. Currently, the only way to install other than from the official store is to jailbreak the device. This is not something I advocate as I do not wish to be in any way liable if you
'brick' your device, or there are other unintended consequences. After all, you chose Apple, did you not; you pays your money and you takes your choice, as the saying goes.
Want to help test the app? See below. DFDN.org App: Please note it is a beta version. It will be released later. For now, you will need to grant permission to install apps from an unknown source. Feedback would be most welcome! David

I am NOT a Macintosh expert; I have not used this OS myself, so please see your system documentation for details of your system architecture. Requests to support systems I do not currently run are, sadly, not likely to be well received as I am a busy man... One piece of good news however - I am waiting to see if new EU legislation requiring IOS devices to permit alternative app stores in the EU may make beta testing on IOS feasible. I will report back later.

FYI: Gopher is an old protocol which does not support transport later security (TLS) and is therefore unsuitable for taking payments, for example, but is lightweight and VERY economical on bandwidth, whereas Gemini has also the advantage of having transport layer security as an intergral part of its specification. Its worth noting that both are free of the scourge of user tracking, cookies, pop up ads and autoplaying videos, all the other rubbish we have come to accept as normal just as we have Microsoft Windows crashing every second day at best. Very useful in African countries where many still pay for bandwidth by the megabyte on slow connections. Gopher uses port 70 and Gemini port 1965 in case of firewall issues by default.

MSc Dissertation. Download (Microsoft Reader)
The following ebook was written to educate the home user about online security issues. It was completed prior to my commencing my dissertation. Although it dates back to 2002 (hence the use of Windows 2000), it is fair to say that the issues are just as relevant today as they were in 2002! It does predate the introduction of smartphones and the era of "Bring your own device" policies.
